Role overview

We have an exciting opportunity for a Technical Director to join our team within Vistry South London, at our Stratford office. As our Technical Director, you will manage the technical team and head up the Technical Department to ensure developments and contracts are completed safely, on time, and to the required quality while maximizing profit.

The Technical Director will have full responsibility and control of the regional technical department. They will control the complete design process involving the management of consultants, management of design input from other internal and external parties, liaison with the relevant statutory and local authorities, including liaison with Clients and Client’s representatives and lead the team through this process. They will lead the team through the project life cycle including the bid/tender stage, technical design, Building Safety Regulator approvals and into the construction stage including handover. This will include Consultant appointments, agreeing the design programme, agreeing and managing the project technical fee budget, obtaining third party approvals, reviewing buildability and compliance with third party obligations such as Employer’s Requirements/Development Agreements, statutory requirements, structural warranty standards and CDM.

• More about the Technical Director role...
  • Direct, lead and develop the regional technical team.
  • Manage the allocation of technical resources across the region including identification of and completion of recruitment.
  • Accountable for the design process, including support during the planning stage and responsibility for the full technical design up to and including Gateway 2 submissions/approvals onto site through the construction stage following the Vistry Life of Site processes.
  • Appointment and management of consultants.
  • Ensure designs prepared by consultants in accordance with Development obligations, Employers Requirement and Contractors Proposals.
  • Navigate projects through the Building Safety Act
  • Timely registration and compliance with warranty providers technical standards.
  • Agreeing and managing the technical fee budget for each project/ the department.
  • Ensure the Golden Thread of information is captured through the project life cycle.
  • Ensure project sustainability requirements are clearly understood and achieved including carbon reduction & BREEAM.
  • Ensure the design information is provided in accordance with the integrated programme to enable procurement and construction activities to progress.
  • Ensure Vistry fulfils its obligations under the Building Safety Act.
  • Contribute to bids/tenders and help pre-construction teams secure profitable work whilst highlighting risk/opportunities.
  • Help the business achieve its annual financial budget (operating profit) and milestones for the business unit.
