We source and acquire new business and development opportunities – previously developed land in cities, farmland or scrubland that we can turn into housing for local authorities, housing associations, rental operators and the open market. We utilise a strong network of agents, partners and consultants so that we can stay ahead of the market and make sure the Group is successful. No two parcels of land are identical, which means we have countless, often complex, site-specific opportunities (or constraints) that we need to be aware of.

Our way of working focuses on output – we’re able to work where we work best, so that could be in head office, on-site, at home, in an office that’s used by another region, partner or consultant. Wherever we are, we enjoy a varied workload. Every project is an opportunity to take on a new challenge. We love the pace and appreciate the support on offer from the Group and the different areas of the business we get to collaborate with. We each have responsibility and ownership of what we do, and this trust extends to sourcing and progressing our own deals and working together to achieve the best outcome for our customers and the Group.

We find and secure land that lacks planning consent, usually via option agreements with landowners. Then, we promote the site through the planning system to obtain planning permission before delivering to the regional businesses; Housebuilding, Partnerships or both. We have an impressive portfolio of sites ranging from 100 to 6,000 homes, and with each at different stages, we ensure a steady flow of land into the Group and a quicker start on site.

From airfield redevelopments and strategic urban extensions to brand-new, standalone settlements, we help create rural and urban communities complete with social infrastructure. We’ve recently secured planning permission for a sustainable urban extension that will create 5,500+ homes, a major district centre, two minor centres, a secondary school, three primary schools and a community sports hub.

Our hybrid way of working means splitting time between the office, home and on-site, and the Group takes a flexible approach to our schedules. We’re in contact with various companies, individuals and stakeholders, visiting sites, councils, landowners and regional businesses around the country. Every project we work on in Strategic Land offers us different challenges and opportunities, but what we can always anticipate is a fast-paced and supportive environment. This allows us to share our knowledge and enjoy success together, with every achievement celebrated by everyone.
