Vistry’s amazing fundraising achievement for the Alzheimer’s Society.
Vistry Group has broken the record for the most money raised by a group of employees in one year for Alzheimer’s Society, raising over half a million pounds.
Colleagues at the housebuilder voted Alzheimer’s Society as its charity of the year and raised a huge £542,485.01. Throughout the business, staff were also trained as Dementia Friends and attended seminars to learn more about the charity’s work, impact of the disease and to raise awareness.
Colleagues from right across Vistry Group went above and beyond to ensure the donation to The Alzheimer’s Society was a significant amount that could be put towards the ongoing support of people living with dementia. With marathons, treks and cycling challenges, golf days, football tournaments and gala dinners, Vistry colleagues pushed themselves to raise awareness, and vital funds, for this hugely important cause.
Earl Sibley, chief operating officer, Vistry Group, said: “We are thrilled to have raised £542,485.01 for Alzheimer’s Society and I’m delighted to hand over this cheque.
“Alzheimer’s Society really resonated with colleagues throughout the business and it’s the most we’ve ever raised for our company charity. Personally, it’s a charity close to my heart as both my mother and grandfather suffered with the disease, and I sadly lost my mother at the end of 2022.”
“I am extremely proud of the dedication shown by colleagues to raise such a phenomenal amount. Individually, in teams and together as Vistry, we’ve had fun without losing focus on the end goal. A fantastic achievement that should make a real difference.”
Kate Lee, chief executive officer, Alzheimer’s Society, said: “The urgency to meet the challenge posed by dementia is greater than ever. Through Vistry Group’s support, we’re able to work towards a world where no one living with dementia has to face this condition alone. Vistry Group have shown real dedication and commitment to the cause, and have demonstrated the power of what partnerships can achieve. Thank you from all of us at Alzheimer’s Society, you’re amazing’.
One in two people will either get dementia or will have to care for someone with dementia. With around 900,000 people living with dementia in the UK, Vistry Group’s raised funds will not only aid those with the disease and their families but will also contribute to innovative Alzheimer’s research.
Charlotte Matier, associate director of fundraising, Alzheimer’s Society, said: “We’re delighted at Alzheimer’s Society to see that Vistry Group’s hard work has resulted in enormous milestones being met in fundraising and raising awareness. It’s been incredible to see everyone come together and raise vital funds for people affected by dementia. Vistry Group is one of Alzheimer’s Society’s top fundraisers in 2023 and has broken the record of the most raised by a group of employees in one year.
“Thanks to everyone’s dedication and support, we can fund life-changing dementia services and ground-breaking research to ensure that no one living with dementia has to face this condition alone. Well done Vistry Group. Together we are help and hope for everyone living with dementia.”
